On my own journey to discover Sicily, I asked a Sicilian archaeologist:
“What could I read to deepen my knowledge of your land?” She answered:
“Sicily is a Continent. It has so much history and so many populations in it, that understanding it is really a long journey back in time. A land with so many facets, so many contradictions, a language of its own, a language made up of gestures. Mountain and sea, Middle Ages and prehistory, Baroque and Byzantine mosaics, Greek temples and Sican tombs…” Take a real break. In 14 days and 13 nights, this itinerary will lead you through the discovery of Sicily, from west to east.
We will begin in Palermo, diving into its contradictions, visiting noble baroque palaces and Letting unexpected street art surprise us, we will continue by making a stop in the countryside, tasting regional wines, then off to Agrigento, with its munificent testimony of Magna Graecia to conclude in Siracusa, with an accommodation in gorgeous Ortigia.
